litter

In the old shed

Posted on 20 November 2016 Leave a Comment

I was strolling through the images I took this year when I noticed something that up till now remained unshared on my website.

It all started this summer with the phone call of a relative, who had found a litter of hedgehogs whilst gardening.
Not knowing what to do with them, he put them in his old barn together with mother hedgehog.

I instantly went there, put my flashes in the barn and took some images. Five minutes later I was back out so the disturbance was low.
Also, people were walking into that barn many times a day, which did not seem to disturb them. Mom hedgehog was often not present, probably sleeping away from the nest to prevent the very vulnerable youngsters from getting unwanted attention…

Nothing there to see right, until you lift up the lit.

Still blind, but already suffering from ticks and mites.

Amazing to see these spines still soft.

After a visit from the owner of the barn, I left them in peace…kvg_3332
